Landscape Photography, Australian Landmarks – Cleveland, Raby Bay Sunset

Hi guys.

Landscape Photography - Australia, Queensland - Raby BayThis is a capture from last years trip to Australia. I’ve been reviewing a number of shots for the website and figured I’d share a few more with you. This one was taken on my second day there, I’d been reading about the last few remaining piers and boat ramps in this area, and apparently the local council no longer allow any new piers or ramps to by build, and once the old ones fall apart that’s it.

So I thought I’d head out and try and find a few, there’s not much left of this one but i think it adds to the atmosphere. Looks like the only use it gets these days is by the local gulls. You can see two of the little fella’s keeping an eye on me.

There was a bit of a breeze so I didn’t expect much by way of reflections, I think I was lucky to capture some of the shadows from the pier.

A couple of grads did a good job of holding back the highlights while allowing me to keep some detail in the shadow areas in the foreground. I opted for a 1:1 format as i felt there wasn’t much going on in the sky. If you do find yourself heading up to Raby Bay pack you might want to park up by the lighthouse, the views are cracking over the bay, great for landscape photography and a great way to end the day. There’s also a pub if you fancy a bite to eat and a pint!Happy shooting,

Beautiful shot. I use to live in Queensland for several years. We visited Cleveland a couple of times and love the canal/waterway system through there. At first view you wouldn’t think it was that picturesque, but you have done a great job in showing what it ha to offer.
