Landscape Photography, English Landmarks, The Peak District – Wildboarclough at Sunset.
I Thought I’d share this image of Wildboarclough in the Peak District, with Shutlingsloe in the distance. I’m conscious i’ve shared a number of images from further afield so I thought I’d share one a little closer to home this time!
I spotted this old barn from the road about 2 years ago and always thought it’d make a nice shot if the conditions were right. I’ve also walked past it a few times on my way up to the standing stone at the top of Macclesfield forest (on the outskirts of the Peak District), each time without my gear though.
I’ve probably driven and hiked out to this location with my kit a good few times as well, however the elements were never on my side – you need a bit of patience when it comes to getting a favourable evening up here! This particular visit though I was very lucky and it all came together and I was treated to an awesome sunset, even the cows played ball.
I tried to make the composition as least complicated as possible while maintaining the leading lines of the path and hill top, tricky when trying to keep the sun out of the frame. I also had the cows to contend with, but after about 10 minutes they soon lost interested in me and wondered up over the bank to find some fresh grass to munch.
All in all a great way to end the day.
